 I don't if you should be so excited, but I am a happy as clam when I find S mint cents myself. Nice find I am jealous. |

That's the beauty of this hobby, it's entirely up to you what makes you happy or excited. It's the small things to me that make this hobby worth while.

I am always excited when I find a cent from 1973 because that was the year my wife was born.  But seriously... I enjoy every 95% copper cent I find because I know eventually a day will come when they will not be as common. An S-mint copper cent is a bonus!  |

I keep the S LMC separate from my copper hoard. So yes I am also excited to see an S. |

Those "S" mints are considered "common", and I don't believe there is any premium on them whatsoever. (unless of course you get a reallly high MS quality on one) I filled some coin tubes of them, and then stopped keeping them. I pitch back all the ones I find now, unless in a really appealing grade. If you search enough Cents, you will find more than you can store of these too. Sorry, I don't mean to be the bubble-burster here.....but they are VERY common to be found in the wild..... You'll find more of these S mints in a box, than you will Wheats. |

Does anyone else find a ton of 1974 S LMC? I find one every other day on average. I thought they were a relatively high mintage, but they're not. |

Hi, eric, Yes.. I find the 'S' mints fairly common too, and I live in Canada.  If you want a couple more send me your address, I have 2 or 3 rolls of them.  |

If it's your first S, then yeah it can be pretty exciting. But like others have mentioned, these are the common ones. Still, better than finding 1973 D's.
