I have been picking up a roll or two here and there of Presidential dollar coins from the banks when they have a fresh roll. I call them bank rolls. I guess I will not call them "US mint rolls". Anyway they come in red, white, and blue rolls from N.F. String & Son, Inc. (Harrisburg, PA) and since I cannot see a date or mintmark due to that being on the edge, I just assumed they were from Denver since I live in Nevada.

Then I found out about the mint direct ship program and bought some of those in $250 dollar boxes. And I get the exact same type of rolls from that shipment. It does have the presidents name printed on them just in case both end coins are facing the wrong way to ID. It came from the Memphis, TN fulfillment center but I don't know if that means anything. For one, I cannot seem to find out where TN gets their coins from. Everything online just tells me that the west side of the US is supplied by Denver, and the East by PA. Anyone know exactly what states get their coins from where?

I was hoping to just hang on to a roll or two from each mint, but don't have any way to tell. Anyone have any tricks to determine this? Or does anyone have PA roll coins they want to trade for Denver roll coins in these type of rolls "once opened" to verify if they are D or P coins?

I hate to crack them open, but don't know what else to do to see what mintmarks I have.

Thanks for any info.

Do you only want one roll of each president? If you get the rolls at the bank, you can always just buy an extra roll to break open and spend just to see what mint they're from..

If you only want one roll, you could buy rolls from the mint. But if you subscribe through the mint and they will send you P & D rolls when they become available. They do cost around 50% above face value if you subscribe.

The $250 from Tn can be either mint. They won't tell you which, you just have to order and open a roll. Since they are at face value, order some and spend what you don't want.

Thanks for the info. I know I can buy a set from the mint but I am not paying that premium for that. I would rather just trade with someone on the other side of the Mississippi, but since I don't know what they are, mint wise, I guess I don't have that option.

Just picked up a box of nickels to go through to fill up my album and darn if it wasn't an entire box of brand new 2011-d! Not exactly what I was looking for. Oh well.
