Lol, sorry bigfredd. I realized that after I re-read my post later. I mentioned Flying Eagles problems with the hard nickel alloy. Indian Head cents were however the first to gain the nickname of "Nickels" or "Nicks". Although this was probably in reference to all small cents at the time (including Flying Eagles) because the larger copper cents were still in wide circulation. (1860s kid pays 4 cents for candy, and pulls out 1 large and 3 small cents from pocket change, he's got 1 copper and 3 'nickels')

I've really enjoyed seeing everyone's IHC's in this thread so far. I can hardly wait for a few more hours for the grand-daddy of them all!

Well, I guess it's the big "key day". I have nothing to post, sadly, but I'm jealous of what I see above! Nice examples!

Indeed I do have it for sale on ebay. I'm sure that one day I'll have to part with it, but in the meantime I sure have enjoyed having it!

That's a really nice problem-free, corrosion-free example Moe. Just honest wear. Nothing wrong with that!

Just having an 1877 IHC is something to be proud of regardless of condition.

My 1878 is in pretty sad shape, but at least I have one.
