Wow, what a gorgeous 25c piece !

Waiting? For silver prices to come down maybe?

Here's an 1873 I plucked from the local melt tub last winter.
Would you have bought it @27x face?

I too have post-worthy coins in the 1860's. May miss that due to afternoon obligations.

Wow! That 1873 quarter is amazing!

And, although I do not collect foreign coinage (do not consider Canadian foreign - I grew up too close to the border - it feels funny to call it foreign!), this Florin makes me want to find one! That is quite a different profile of Queen Victoria than I am used to seeing. Very nice - love the Roman numerals for the date.

Oddly enough I seem to have no 1872's ..

Earle42, go back a page to see how Victoria in that pose should look without so much wear and tear.

Whoa! Great looking coin. Not sure how I missed it before. I have collected Canadian awhile and am used to their profiles.

HOSNAP! Amazing coincidence!
I bought this giant box of mostly modern European pocket change at tonight's auction, somewhere between 500-1000 coins.
Included- and so far the only 19th century coin in the lot- was this 1872 :

How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go?-Ended-At-1492-Waiting-On-1491 How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go?-Ended-At-1492-Waiting-On-1491

Now that this year is out of the way, let the good stuff continue.

I'm rather delighted to own this 1871 in spite of what it cost:
