Quote: Also note the quarter turn rotation as indicated by the position of the mount spot. Interesting! My 1664-IK 2 Mark also has a 90 degree (1/4 turn) rotation. The 1664-GW has normal coin orientation.

Is the 1664 ex-jewelry, like a pin? This would account for the raised metal on the 1 and weak 4.

As stated in the text that accompanied the images, yes, the coin gives significant indication that it was once used as a pin. Coins-as-jewelry was common practice pre-20th century. As you see it is how I obtained it, at a public estate sale that also included the <very fortunately unaltered> Swedish coin I posted on p. 34 of this fine thread. Waiting for Mr. Fredd to show us some of his great ooooooldies

The newly posted 1664 has a great planchet break and looks like double punched 64.

Wonderful half ecu, t360. 16611 marck/16 skilling Norway. This was half the value of the two marck I posted earlier. For some reason a 1 marck had "16 skilling" as it's inscription. Of course, that was the true value in skillings. But why didn't then the two marck say 32 skillings? Who knows? Not me. Anyway, it is rather fun with a 16 from 1661. Lots of ones and sixes. Even though 16 comes in roman numerals. And in case anyone is wondering - I am not done yet. I have a few oldies in my collection

1660Is it OK to take two in a row? I hope noone will mind. I have a very nice 1660. I have no 1659 whatsoever, so three in a row is out of the question. This is a Norwegian speciedaler.
