Well, I just found a gallery that shows dated coins going back and the first break is 1453 - there are no known coins dated 1453. I might poke about and see if there are any coins datable to 1453.
There is, however, a coin dated 1166.
The first AD dated coin is 1234 but it would cost €30000 euros to acquire one!

They arrived in today's mail. EDIT - I have updated the 1522 and 1523 pictures.

Incredible that the dates on these old coins are still visible.

I will probably/hopefully get a job soon, and then I might be able to help this thread going. But in the meantime, I'll just enjoy the show!

Being able to check in every couple of days is confusing me. Should I be looking for 1516? I have lost track!

Just so you know: I still have that 1521 coin. However, I didn't think of photographing it anywhere near shortly after purchase, and currently I'm something like thirty miles away from it (not sure of the exact figure though - might be forty miles). I would probably be able to photograph it on Monday or, if I'm really lucky, on Sunday* evening (or if I'm unlucky instead, Tuesday or Wednesday, but Monday is fairly likely). Oh, and we really should go ahead after that - we're right on the verge of finally outrunning the original Coin People thread (to be exact, they're currently up to 1517, so if we get that 1516 before they do...)
*) i.e. tomorrow, or about 22 hours from now; though, as I said, that's about the earliest it could possibly be - probably would be later

Coins Kelly,I have 1520-1517 covered and january1may has a 1521,so 1516 is what will be needed. I also have a 1514 and 1504 and put a bid in on a 1510 that ends tomorrow. Also,a question for Moe or JBUCK. Both the 1514 and 1504 have the old Gothic form of the numeral "4" as the last digit of the date. Would that qualify for this thread?
