According to a member on another forum, the BEP released series 2006A $100 notes with the same signature combination as the 2006 banknotes but with the prefix "K". They were printed earlier this year and will be used until the new ones are ready to be released.

Thanks almost sounds like re printing and not sorting. I read about all the new anti counterfeiting items for the new ones. Wonder if there are and chips in them as well. Never heard of such an issue printing money before (plus not knowing the issue existed until so many were printed)

Would be nice to see the Government recall all of the old $ 100.00 bills and you have to take them to a Bank. Mexico may have a few and the Drug Dealers. Then the Bank will have you fill out a 1099 Form for anything over $ 10,000.00 and you must provide a Real Drivers License.

Yes funny. the new 100s still aren't out there due to the printing press issues. To be honest I think a cashless society is the real goal. Seems every govt pmt etc is either direct deposit or some type of debit card. I think we should all have cash in case power and/or computer systems malfunction. Just my thoughts. I recall stories of people without cash during Katrina and that was before much of the mandatory cashless payments

You are posting in the currency forum so you will probably find a lot of people here that would have a problem with it being mandatory to have to surrender their collectible currency for destruction. Fortunately our country hasn't degraded to that point yet.

^^ It's done it before with the gold certificates.. horrible
I suppose the worst they could do is demonetize the older hundreds.. If they don't, they'll still circulate and people can still counterfeit them..

hey angel2004 you are right they said it would take 30+ years to take all the defective notes out by hand so they decided to make a machine that can do it in a year.

Removing a note from circulation doesn't stop people from printing more of them. It may however make people take notice of the older note being circulated since people generally do believe older notes are counterfeits. I have seen that over and over with my employees when they mark up a silver certificate with "the pen".
