That is an 1870 Spanish 2 Centimos. Composition is copper. World Coin ID is Y-52. I'll dig around in my Krause and see if I can discover mintage.

Nice find for a Coin Star.

David

Edit ... My references state the coin is 20mm in diameter and weighs 2.0 grams. Minted in Barcelona with a total mintage of 115,868,832 coins. Not exactly rare.

I don't have an estimate of value .... hoping the experts will be along shortly to provide that.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

Wow, 115 million in 1870, thats high mintage for back then (or so it seems to me).
What does "world coin ID (y-52) mean?
Thanks for the info nickelsearcher.

I would say this coin is in EF-45 condition. Nice sharp details and seems to have small amount of mint luster left from what I can tell from these photos. It is listed as KM#661 a 1870 2 Centimos from Spain and would be worth around $10.00 in this condition. Of course the grade I stated is purely my opinion.

I have heard of people "finding" cool coins in a coinstar. I thought coin stars only give out cash or vouchers, not coins?

Upstate, there are two primary catalog #s for world coins, y=Yeoman and KM=Krause. There are a few others {specialty catalogs/researchers for more specific countries or denominations within a country that are listed freely in most of the two major catalog #'s}. Sort of a a sharing of information between them all thing.

That's in a better grade than most I see at shops and shows.

Rejected coins are where these finds occur.Besides this coin there was a bicentennial US quarter ,2 Canadian dimes,a token of some kind and 2 badly beat up zincolns (which I traded for coppers at the "give a penny"jar)

Thank you Tam, I should get one of those Catalog's/books for reference materials
