florida Valued Member United States 417 Posts	Posted 06/19/2011 04:32 am I recently went through the small bunch of 1974 cents to get an idea of how many of each date size is out there...and here are the results: 1974-P Large = 136 1974-P Small = 369 1974-D Large = 58 1974-D Small = 118 1974-S Large = 18 1974-S Small = 30 If the ratios are done correctly (hence the username and how late this posting is), the D and S mints are roughly 1:2 with Philly being almost 1:3. I still have about $4 in cents rolls to go through (which I switched out at work), so the numbers may change. * Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. * Report this Post to the Staff

The ratios could be different in other parts such as in the western part of the country. The interesting thing I see here is you are finding less large dates from all 3 mints. It has always been said that there is an equal amount of large and small dates so neither one is more uncommon than the other. Plus, any information on the time frame when the mint was testing out the aluminum pattern would help tell when the switch-over happened. Report this Post to the Staff
