For me halves are a complete waste of time.

I felt the same way at one time. I had gone through a couple hundred dollars in halves with no luck. I was ready to quit. However, a few days ago, I found a teller with some loose halves and I took a chance. She gave me six, and two of them were 90% and 40%. I've found two more 40% in the last two days! At least one of them was in a Brinks roll. Apparently, the tellers and roll hunters around here don't know about 40% halves...

Well, I got 3 boxes of dimes and they were all 2011 P uncirculated dimes. Wonder if they're worth anything...

I found a 1936 quarter the other day from a Brinks roll. It was my first silver find.

Went through my first box of nickles a few weeks ago. Usually do cents. Found 1 war nickle and a handful of pre 1960. The war nickle made it worth it.

Brinks boxes have been very bad luck for us on any silver halves this year.

So I wanted to chime in here. I just picked up my second Brinks box yesterday and the teller informed me that the Brinks guy said they filter out their silver by weight. I almost didn't get the box. It was a skunk, but on a hunch, I checked (124) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed and sure enough, the 90% coins weigh 12.5 g and the 1971-present are 11.34 grams. Discouraged, I checked the 40% coins and lo and behold, 11.5 grams. That's pretty close to 11.34. I'm betting that even if Brink's IS filtering them out, the 40%s are close enough to the clads that with some wear and tear, will pass through.

If I were Brink's, I'd be filtering out silver @ $33 an ounce too. But they can't catch them all.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to a bank I don't usually use. They gave me a whole Brinks box of halves that they accidentally ordered. I didn't find anything but a couple AU NIFCs.

I just filled my 4th tube of silver dimes plus my album and all from brinks . But if you talk about halves in my op they are separating or they are long gone by the searchers as I find inumerous proofs but not a single 40% since a long long time

My work switched to brinks for its coin orders 6 or 7 months ago and it seems to me most of the coins are dumped coins from other searchers. We will get 2 boxes of pennies in which all the copper has already been removed or a box of nickels that's full of 2011 p. Some one searched them looking for errors then dumped them. I can't wait to get a new supplier.

Brinks doesn't search for silver. If people are getting skunked after a few boxes and giving up then they're giving up too quickly. More times than not you will find nothing.

I know people that buy rolls of halves all the time and find silver, all from Brinks.

Hey coinhunter16! I live near Raleigh. What bank and location did you get the 2011 P dimes at? I'm looking at getting a few rolls.

Please PM me.
