These are some other pics of the 1926 2 1/2 gold I got this weekend that was discussed briefly in the classic coin section.

It is in beautiful condition and since I am not big on graded coins, I was wondering what the community thought. The detail is really nice and although it does have some light scratching, I noticed that the ones presented by PCGS on the coinfacts site ( http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/CoinDe...7950&redir=t ) have some scratches too despite being graded MS66

Not a fan of graded? You should be as certain coins are counterfeited and the grading companies help give us piece of mind.

I didn't say I'm not a fan, I said I was not big on them. Specifically meaning the majority of my coins aren't worth the cost of sending in. I have a couple Morgans I might send but that's about it.

Looks MS to me, the cheek and eagle's wing are where you usually see wear on these. The cheek may have some rub, if so, I would say AU58, if MS it's probably around MS64. Scratches are very common on gold coins as gold is a very soft metal. They shouldn't affect the grade too much unless they are pretty bad.
Rest in Peace

I know I've stated this before. But luster is key on these. The MS-66 I would bet my life has absolutely blazing luster in hand. I'm not seeing it on this coin, but not seeing wear either. I would guess AU-58 to MS-61.
