Further reading (namely this page: http://web.archive.org/web/20091015090001/http://members.optusnet.com.au/~iha...ature/f5.htm ) leads me to believe all Canadians have 3.5 claws.

You're right. It should work if you copy the whole line into the address bar.

Doesn't look like a 3,5 claw in the ebay pics but well done if it arrived as described

Wes you've got me doubting my purchase now. Have tried looking at other people's posts and the "curved lettering". I may be blind or incompetent but I'm at a complete loss with this coin to tell if it has curved lettering or not. I was comparing it against a 20cent from a 1981 mint set, so it's possible by comparing an apple to an apple I'd see no difference.

What made you doubt it Wes?

Hi Guys,Wesley it is actually the first claw that you have to look at & this coin looks to have a half First Claw as per Macca's guide description.
Tim,I blew your picture up & put the black line pointing at the claw, the smaller photo did'nt show it well.
If you click on the photo it's bigger again.

& this is the section of the Macca's guide that describes it , bit hard to read but you can read it.

1981-20c-Varieties

I think the coin is a genuine 3 1/2 claw. & if you like Tim I believe you can do thisor this good buy.

Is there any particular reason a lot of 1981 coins were minted in Canada and Wales?

From what I can remember, the RAM needed assistance to get enough coins minted and ready for the 1982 Comm Games, but they must have got their act together by 1988 Expo, as I think they managed that on their own.
life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved
