I work in marketing for a spirits company. I travel the country going to concerts and music festivals promoting our booze. Gives me a chance to visit lots of coin shops all over the place.

I am retired now, but have had two interesting career jobs. I was a miner underground and actually did the drilling and blasting and was a shift boss with a crew of 20 to 30 people. My other job I tell people was "Wild Life Management" actually I was a Middle School Teacher grades 5 through 8. Believe me kids can do some crazy stuff!

Worked as a research entomologist until technology & corporate consolidations put me out of work. Translation: I made stuff to kill bugs.
I've been a college instructor for the past ten years in microbiology.
Stevex6-my son is a geologist in northern ID and does the same work as you. It's a silver/lead/zinc mine. What's your mine produce (hopefully, gold) -- Terrell

The mine was in Colorado and produced molybdenum. Also worked in Arizona at a mine that had microscopic traces of gold. We use to call the geologists "rock lickers". Lost my shirt on a poorly planned gold mining operation in Alaska.

After 24 years of Active Duty with the Air Force (military obligation completed), I am still doing nondestructive testing, Civil Service style. Occasional part time job (11 years) pedaling car parts.

What an interesting thread.
After school I went into the textile industry (card room, weaver, overlooker) which I absolutely loved. Actually making something has always been far more satisfactory to me. Then (in Northern England at least) the mills got shut down due to cheap foreign imports.
Thereafter, in order, corner shop owner, rivet maker, mature student, furnace feeder, warehouseman, and last but not least (and wait for the boos) the Inland Revenue (IRS to you yanks).
Then (sort of) retirement. Currently a bar owner, which my wife runs, and a partner in a rubber plantation (currently trying to find a white horse, pith helmet, jodhpurs and a riding crop - so I can beat the natives into submission!!)
So if variety is the spice of life I should either be on a vaudeville stage or a very hot curry.

wow, this page didn't have any engineers on it => we're evolving!
tepritts => it's a Nickel mine (copper and small amounts of precious metals are side-minerals) BPOC1 => driller and blaster, eh? (I have huge respect for the guys on the business-end of the drills) ... Geologists are "rock lickers" (nice)
Still waiting to hear from a => doctor, lawyer, nurse, exotic dancer ... I know you're out there!
