1872 Balance Scale Peso Condition?

Here is an 1872 Balance Scale Peso That is oddly worn or lightly struck or both. The detail seems good in some areas and flat in other areas on the same side. It also showing some discoloration around the rim. Any ideas on this one? Should I try acetone to remove the discoloration?

colloration is most often patina, which I personally should never remove...
But I would also point out, that I would never clean a coin... despite the state they are in :)
