So I passed through town the other day and went 10-12 total banks. I asked every bank if they had half dollars and I was able to get 6 total rolls. One bank I got 3 rolls, I went to the car and oppened up the first roll. I found 11 silver 40% half dollars I was in complete shock. The other 2 rolls had nothing though. The other 3 rolls from other banks had nothing, but one had a 1963 franklin. I went to one bank and they had 2 loose half dollars I bought them and after looking at them they were both 40% silver, a 1966 and a 1967 I was in shock agian. Anyways thoose were my finds and it was pretty exciting.

This reminds me of the guy who only had one child.

Haven't tried roll hunting but my wife has a change jar that was filled, so I asked her if I could browse it a bit before she took it to the credit union. I was surprised to find some things in there that were worth worth keeping. Came up with 4 40% quarters from 1965-67, a couple of 1965-66 dimes, some nickels (although I'm not real sure about which ones are worth more than $0.05, if any), and a couple of dozen pre-82 copper pennies. Oldest coin was a 1919 penny. Four of the pennies were wheats. I'm not a penny collector but I figure what the hey... a little copper might come in handy one day... or not, who knows?

Also bought a couple of 40% halves from my son. I don't collect 40% silver coins so will probably trade them and a little cash sometime for some 90% silver coins.

Well, drat! I seem to have wasted my time on that. According to a popular web site that sho . values, the dimes and quarters I so laboriously separated out from the rest of the herd are not 40% silver at all. So much for not checking before searching. Sorry for the false alarm.
