So I was real happy to get my first gold coin this afternoon from a CCF member in BiggFredd, via this great looking 1995 gold eagle without any flaws the naked eye can see.... I was extremely happy to discover a very unique octagon gold Indian from 1852, and we all know I like the small gold coins. I did not order it, just a very nice generous gesture and much appreciated by me, as those two new coins made my weekend. I have seen one similar to it at my local pawn shop, but it seems like it had a different image. I of course would not expect a free gift from Fredd on any other purchases, but the thought, the REAL gold coins, the fair price and fast shipping means much too me, and I will always bring more business in future to him or any dealer that goes out of their way to make the customer happy, thanks again Fredd.... This is the closest and only example I could find on ebay, and this one is in rough shape. The one Fredd gave me is in amazing shape for its age, minus it being a reproduction coin perhaps. In which case if it is, who cares as it is still a great unique pure gold coin.... http://cgi.ebay.com/Beautiful-and-R...em23129c321a

Thanks for the kind thoughts an words Junior and all!!
That is o.k. being brass. Still a real neat little replica coin, and I had no plans to sell it, so just a cool piece of California gold history, and it fits right in with the collection....

Dunno how effectively it worked, but my intention in packaging was that you'd find the token first, and say ? The dime should have shown up after a brief search. I'm 99.99% certain the token is a nicely plated repro (either that, or hawk got a heckuva unintended deal). Just a trinket like a gag gift, but I'm glad to see you're having fun with it. Curiously enuf, I was cleaning up some clutter and ran across what I'm pretty sure is a genuine quarter. Round, obv Liberty, 11 six-pointed stars, interesting little die crack from rim to 4 oclock star. Rev wreath, looks like six frogs with antennae and berries each side. Inside the wreath (not over the open top) is I

DOLLAR and a six-pointed star at the bottom.

Cool piece to wear in a bezel Bryan on a chain for sure. I would imagine it draws interest from those who is not knowledgeable of what it is? Yeah Fredd, I took that token by the jewelry Pawn guy, and he said that coin was real, and ultra rare and amazing shape. Offered me 500 for it, and I could not turn that down, and already have me another half eagle on the way with the profits! NOT-he he he ,lol! Yeah oh Fredd is a bit of a joke-ster, and told me my MO, was fake, via a DARTH VADER water mark instead of Ben Franklin. I was like really, my own post office selling the fake Star Wars Mo's rof .... Then on the package it said "Here is your wooden nickel.", and I could feel the eagle in the case in the back end of the envelope. In front of it, was a taped up small piece of cardboard, and at first I thought it was just for packing, and then realized it had the California gold token in it, lol, good stuff....

If you can't enjoy your hobby, it's time to find a new one.
One Christmas, my best comic customer's gift was a rare X-Men he had wanted for months. Presented as a nicely wrapped box of coal, and lots of bull about how I knew he'd really appreciate it for a traditional Yule fire in their otherwise unused real fireplace, etc.
Kid was dumbstruck, but still thanked us politely, and kept a stiff upper lip as he took his "wonderful gift" home.
Of course, dad was in on the excellent job I did on the false bottom, and put the kid through a few more hours of torture.
Now this kid got everything he ever wanted from both sides of the family. Three days after Christmas there was exactly one item he remembered. Guess.
