coinsearcher83 is correct. A small metal loop (probably silver) was removed from the edge of the coin a long time ago.
That is evidenced by the lack of rim detail above the King's head on the obverse and, lack of detail on the legend and crowns at the ends of two of the shields on the reverse.
I have a half crown of George 11 in VF that displays this same evidence of rim and edge damage. I paid $120 for my coin a few days ago, and it was described as having a mount removed from the edge. I am quite happy with my purchase.
Done skillfully, this damage can appear to be fairly slight but nevertheless obvious if you look for it.
