Anyone tried the new dollar coin direct ship program from the Mint since you can't use a credit/debit card anymore?
I filled out the form and mailed a check for the first time today.

I tried the one they had in place when it first started and it was fine. They have now changed the rules so not sure how it is right now

I ordered my first direct ship box last month. I guess it was just before they changed the rules. I was going to order another box. I printed the form and I will mail it in. I think this is going to diminish the number of coins ordered, even from us who really want to circulate them. And it will take longer. I don't know why they don't accept a direct debit from a checking account. I pay a lot of bills that way. Whatever.

I have not tried it, but it is always a shame when people abuse the system and ruin it for the rest of us! Those people who were buying all those coins, earning rewards, and going on vacations! The thought of someone abusing a system like this makes me sick! I wish they could make an exception for those honest people out there who are trying to circulate them...

Quote: I think this is going to diminish the number of coins ordered I agree. Quote: Those people who were buying all those coins, earning rewards I didn't mind earning rewards to but I spent the coins. I was surprised the form gets mailed to the US Mint in Philly. In the previous system coins came from PBGS in Plainfield IN. I wonder if the order will still show up on the Mint website and ship from PBGS?

I was going to Order them, but they changed the policy the Day before. Hope someone can keep us informed on how long it takes a check to clear and receive your coins. I think a Bank Wire Transfer might cost too much.

LOL, I am one of the ones that was buying coins for the rewards. I'm suprsed that it lasted as long as it did. Started back in 2007 when they first offered the direct ship program. I wasnt able to do it for long due to the fact I moved to S. Korea in Jan of 2008, but it was good while it lasted. What makes you sick about it? I was buying coins that were shipped to me, only down side is I have almost 8K in Washington dollars that will look odd when I do finally go to the bank!! Hoping when I get back to the states (they are stored at my moms house) I can take a week and go through them all and see if any are no motto's. Fingers crossed.

I sent in an order last Saturday and got an email saying they received it on Friday morning (they gave the order date as Thursday and the order process date as Friday). Quote:

Quote: Hope someone can keep us informed on how long it takes a check to clear and receive your coins. I mailed the form with a check at the local Post Office on August 1. Because I'm close to Philly I estimate it was there by August 3. On August 9 my account was debited and the order appeared on the Mint Website. I assume they must have cross referenced my name and address since my website ID and my email address were not entries on the form. On August 15 the coins were delivered. They still ship from PBGS in Plainfield Indiana even though the form and check are mailed to Philadelphia. Not too painful a process.

I got mine today (they tried to deliver on Friday but I wasn't here). So two weeks from when I sent the check to when I got the coins. I can live with that.
Both the Sac's and the Pierce's were Denver mint coins. Nice to get those for a change.

2011. I don't think they have the 2001 ones in stock.

The selection is smaller than it was when I ordered a few weeks ago.
Currently they have.
