geesh, I thought that "I" was gluttonous, but apparently I have a pretty long way to go until I catch-up to a few of you big-sluggers!
TOTAL => a mere "776" items (bills, coins, proof sets, etc) ...
NOTE => but 95% of these beauties have been collected during the past "2" years, so look out coin-world, because here I come!!
; )
Rest in Peace

I have over 1000. My husband found 700 Sac. dollars in two Planter's Peanuts jars in his late father's home and we don't quite know what to do with them.

We have Morgans and buffalos...jars of junk silver...and about 25 pretty good coins.

I feel a bit overwhelmed by what I need to learn so I am mostly a lurker and a hoarder at this point.

I've got at least 5000 coins, many of which have almost no value :P

I have about 1400 coins in my collection. I am trying to get every year of Canadian and US coinage. I have about the same amount in copper and nickel bullion.

I think this poll has concluded that this is more of an addiction... instead of a hobby

I find the longer I collect the pickier I become. When I first started collecting 10 years ago I wanted one of every Canadian coin ever minted from 1858 to date as well as all the R.C.M. products.
But then when I would spend time looking through my vast collection of thousands of coins, I only seemed to appreciate to finer pieces. I also found that my available spending money for coins was being worn thin by buying too many coins VS. quality coins.
After rethinking what made me happy, it was "quality" and not "quantity". I found since it was too easy to amass a huge fruitless Collection and no challenge what so ever, I turned all my attention and resources to QUALITY.

Mine is well over 1,500 if I count single coins contained in rolls and proof sets. Lots of duplicates which probably makes me a hoarder. I can never bring myself to cut loose the coin I replaced with an upgrade.

exactly glenzy1 ...

=> Once I filled all of the open holes in a few of my albums, I started going-back and upgrading the coins from G => VG => F => etc, and before I knew it, I had about 3 or 4 collections of each coin (not so good) ... so, you're correct => the only coins that I ended-up liking are the "valuable/rare" ones ... actually, lately the only coins in my cross-hairs are the mules and the error coins ...

however, it is definitely a step-change ... it would have been mayhem if I stormed outta the blocks trying to collect mules and errors, right? (it's an evolution => there is definitely something nice/right about systematically collecting and finishing as set or series of coins => it's OCD-101)

you gotta include paper money here. And coins in flips, slabs or 2 x 2's should be included; loose change in rolls, bags and Ziploc bags should not. As such I'm at 3,350, half of which is Cdn.

I might have about 800 coins that are part of my "collection", but if you include all the searched wheat cents, copper pennies, low mintage nickels, etc I have rolled, about...probably closer to 10,000.
