Hi Yass. Thanks for sharing your finds with us. When you say you get a sack of each denomination, how much is in a sack, and do branches normally have many coins on hand?

Sacks contain the following: - $1 - $500
- 50 Cent - $200
- 20 cent - $100
- 10 Cent - $100
- 5 Cent - $100 (although this sack was not an Armaguard sack and had been refilled by the bank. Accordingly, it did not have any new rolls amongst them)
In Canberra (London cct), I used to have to pre-order, but then I was buying nearly $2000 a week. The second NAB on London cct didn't hold all that many sacks, but I recall they misordered 50 cent pieces one week and finished up with hundreds of new 50 cent rolls. I let all my Canberra colleagues know at the time. This small bank has subsequently closed down. The Downer Branch carries a small quantity. Last week I travelled to Yass. They weren't real keen to supply the sacks, but they did simply to stop my bottom lip from trembling If you do it ioften, the pre-ordering is the way to go, as long as you are a customer. Otherwise, you have to rely on the good will of the teller and what they have in stock at the time.

P.S. The teller in Yass knew exactly what I wanted the sacks for. She is also a coin collector. It still didn't stop her from nearly denying my request. It was touch and go for a while. Unfortunately, none were new, and there was very little in the majority of the sacks, although the 50 cent sack this time proved to be a real winner with a near complete set of 2001 Federation States.

This thread convinced me to start Noodling! I am not big on circulated coins, but have since caught the bug! Have spent a few hours on it so far.
Got $20 worth of 5c pieces from the bank today, was stoked to find the 1972 I was chasing. Can't wait to get more out!

I used to buy huge quantities every week, but have cut right down. Friday was only my second venture in many months. All my mules were found while noodling at clubs. None from sacks. I did find a CHU UNC barcelona from a roll. It was more spectacular as it had a wonderful large die crack on it. I might pull it out and photograph it one day. My wavy 20 came from a sack, but you wouldn't have wanted to hold your breath waiting for it. It took a couple of years and many thousands of coins. But at least I have one. I also look at each coin through a 10 x loupe. I pick up lots of small Cuds. I have enough of certain types to consider calling the varieties LOL. Coin Man Tim, check out the echidna's paws. Ther all have large Cuds on them from time to time. I'll post a list of 5 cent errors for you.

These are 5 centerrors I have found. My database lists them as 'Type of Error', 'Where the error is' and the date. I purchased a couple of loupes last week, and am waiting for them to arrive.
I found a "1983 10 sec" coin from Brunei today. I have never seen one of those before. It came in a roll from Chubb and its size is a very good match for a 5 cent coin.

Yass, what is a Cud for the 2005 50c coin? And also the wide date for year of the family. Is it easy to tell the wide date? Also the 2008 20c gap. Can I get a value on all 3 coins? Will be appreciated.

The 2005 50 cent features a number of figures, one of which is a priest. You will note that at the bottom left of his robe is a small space between the robe and the ground. This space (very) occassionally is filled by a Cud. I keep them all, as the size of the Cud varies. My intention is to photograph them and display the 'growth'. One day. :-) With regard to the wide date. They are easy to differentiate if you compare them 'side by side' or more accurately on top of each other. There isn't much of a premium for coins taken from circulation. There would be for uncirculated examples. If you were able to demonstrate the disintergration of the die by the growth of the Cud from multiple examples, then perhaps that might be worth something. But overall, they are only of value to a collection (unless they are spectacular examples). I need my memory refreshed on the 2008 20c gap.

Thanks Mr T. I have no idea as to their value. I have put aside 44xCHU/GEM, 31xUNC, 14xTFC (Taken from Circulation EF+ or better. I also have 21 Armaguard rolls. I have absolutely no idea if any are the 'no gap' variety.
I suspect the CHU and UNC are from rolls I have sorted through, so I must assume that, apart from the TFC, they will all be the same variety.

P.S. I class CHU/GEM as having absolutely no bag marks at all. My UNCs may have very tiny bagmarks, none of which are on smooth areas, e.g queens cheek.
As time goes by, my TFCs are saved from rolls because they are still in relatively good nick.

Don't forget the thick and thin "7" on the 2007 20 cent pieces.

Quote: I have no idea as to their value. Yeah, I'm not sure either. I don't suppose the latest MacDonald's guide has any information? There don't seem to be any on ebay at the moment. Quote: Don't forget the thick and thin "7" on the 2007 20 cent pieces. Yea, I already have a couple of both. Quite common in comparison.
