Well within those stamps I found a 1943 Steel Penny. HAHA SWEET. Now I was on craigslist and saw this for sale for $10 bucks and the guy says it works and 600x-900x. Good for looking at Coins? There is no way it has 600-900x magnification and even 60-90x is unrealistic for a scope that size. You would want a binocular microscope for viewing coins. Report this Post to the Staff

The optics on those are quite poor and its more a toy than useful as bio suggests. I use a steroscope with 10 X 30 power and it works well. Good lighting is as important as lens power. Sap Moderator Australia 16948 Posts	Posted 08/22/2011 06:37 am That's a "biological" scope, like this one only cheaper. Even if it can do the advertised 600x, the light source is a mirror from below; it requires the thing you're looking at to be thin and transparent. So unless you've got some glass coins or need to see the silhouette of the coin up really close for some reason, this scope will be useless for you.
