Hi,

I just was curious to find out if I had found a no F variety: # B376.

I just matched this coin up to a similar looking one on the Internet and wanted to confirm that its classification is correct.

I also have a few additional questions:

a) What other years/mints in the Buffalo nickels do no F varieties command a respectable premium?

b) If this coin does turn out to be a # B376, what are we looking at in terms of value?

c) Finally, please also grade this coin.

Thanks,
mdpmedia

I have never really given them much thought, just another case of worn out and overpolished dies. However, there is at least enough interest in them to warrant a CPG listing.

NGC lists this in their VarietyPlus section but I cannot seem to find out any historical pricing data anywhere. Any help would be great.

Hi Mdpmedia,
I haven't found too much information in the way of values for the "No F" but Ron Pope's Abraded Die Varieties has a section (Section F) on which year/mints have been found, he lists 20 of them with. There are some prices but it is from 2016 so not sure how representative they are for today but maybe a place to start.

Here is a link that should open to that section
https://archive.org/details/buffalo...n71/mode/2up

The different years and mints with the "No F" have it missing to various degrees much like the two feather abraded dies, with some having no trace.

Those photos taken of the same coin were done a decade ago using a USB camera; the details of the scratch and patina overall are not that accurate.

I used an iPhone to take these new shots which portray a more accurate presentation of the same coin.

I'll post these new shots in the grading forum to get opinions.

I did not post this close-up of the no-F area in the grading forum because it's related to the variety issue:
