Only in the modern investment world can The Fed put an order in for 40 tractor trailer loads of fresh and unbacked $100 bills and the dollar gains ground. The good thing is that the dollar is now back above par on the Canadian Dollar, A few months ago I never thought that that would occur again in my lifetime. I found that I can take less than $10000 over the border to invest in a Canadian bank in Canadian dollars. Eventually the stronger currencies will float to the top, so there will be possibly be gains to be made by making that move. It certainly looks like the Euro will probably be back to par with the dollar within a few years as they are talking about. Gold is on sale at this point as crazy as the markets are acting. It may as well go back to $1600 and really give us a break.
Rest in Peace

Just think, two months ago (7-16) gold was under 1600. Now pushing 1800.

Yes, the climb to $1900 was really fast and probably a lot of short term speculators kept piling on and made some money. I have no fear about the long term. We should probably thank the speculators in advance. We'll need them for the next big run up. I don't think someone like me buying physical for the long term has a thing at all to do with prices. It has to move up on paper first. Although I can't imagine any central banks are loading up on dollars or Treasuries at these price levels and yields. We need a few big gold purchases from foreign treasuries publicized at the right time to turn it around firmly.
