I did buy some junk silver yesterday but the coin shops are running low. I also read some online dealers are out of various silver items.
Rest in Peace

Should I have the audacity to e-mail an ebay seller whom is selling silver eagles and maples and ask them why they are charging $50 or more when silver is $32 and send them a link showing where current silver spot price is? LOL

Not unless you're a good buddy.

1) It's none of our biz.

2) If they sell @ $50, his pricing was right.

I think some of the ebay bids could have been made before the quick downfall as well. Time will tell. I agree if we don't like a price don't bid but none of anyone else business what price is out there. The market will decide

i went to my coin shop yesterday and were selling their junk 90% at 26.5x face roughy, $6.75 for a quarter. when melt puts it at $5.60....more than $1 premiums, but I wasnt surprised I guess... they still had to cover their losses when they bought 90% at $40/oz,

now is the time to keep buying coins for your collection. high grade coins that arent effected by this crap

I realize that this may be a little rich for some people's blood, and I am nowhere near ready to start investing heavily in gold bullion, but I am thinking that if the price of gold continues to drop on Monday I might just pick up some nice gold coins for a type set. As I mentioned earlier, I did buy a $20 St. Gaudens coin on Friday, and right now I've got one of each of the other main historical gold coins in my shopping cart over at APMEX ($20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle, $10 Indian Gold Eagle, $10 Liberty Gold Eagle, $5 Indian Gold Half Eagle, $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle, $2.50 Indian Gold Quarter Eagle, $2.50 Liberty Gold Quarter Eagle, $1 Indian Head Gold Coin [Type 3], $1 Liberty Head Gold Coin [Type 1]). Each of the coins are listed as AU or better condition, and right now the total cost is sitting at around $6000. I'm just going to monitor things and if the total price drops to the $4000-5000 range, I may just have to pull the trigger.

I think gold would have to drop down to where it was prior to 2007 before I would consider investing a significant chunk of my son's college fund into bullion, but as a collector I am chuffed at the thought of getting some nice coins to add to my Dansco 7070 album (with the extra US Gold page I will need to buy, obviously). And if gold manages to rebound tomorrow, well, at least I'll feel better about the coin I bought on Friday...

Coin shop near me is selling 90% at 24x face which is not bad and I bought some quarters. I was looking to buy Silver Eagles but they are asking $40 and I think it's little to much premium right now.

Just made another buy because I had some FRNs gathering dust and wanted to get more silver for my bullion collection. I ordered 100 ASEs from APMEX and 20 5-oz. bars from SilverTowne. Hope to receive both in about 7-10 days. Will buy more if the price falls more. Also want to buy either some Pt or some Pd. Haven't decided which yet. Both look attractive.

Rest in Peace

I'd trade au for pt, as long as pt is cheaper. That won't last forever.

I thought of buying a little platinum. It is very hard to find right now, and the dealers I did find that had some in stock were still selling at something like $150-200 per ounce over spot.

Yes I have read since it is cheaper than gold a good deal. I'm going to watch and see what happens on the Mints site for an eagle.

Looks like the international spot markets have now opened. Gold dipped back down to about $1635 within the first few minutes, but now it's back up around $1650.

Haven't bought anything yet. Will probably buy junk silver off APMEX. Don't have a LCS yet.

Gold is up around $1640, but silver is a little over $29. Decisions, decisions!
