I've been working on building a complete collection of one dollar notes (I'm not that far into it), a collection starting with the Small Size notes of Series 1928 (United States Notes and Silver Certificates) all the way to the present series and ones in the future.
I've started on multiple series. I have an almost complete set of 1957B Silver Certificates (only missing two) and I plan to work on collecting all the different notes like D.C., Fort Worth, Mules, Narrow, Wide, North Africa, Hawaii, and Experimentals.
Is this a kind of collection other collectors have done, or am I just nuts?

Oops. I've been referring to them as block numbers.

When I read this title I thought there might be someone else as crazy as me, but I see you meant something else.
I don't know of anyone doing exactly what you are but I do know of someone who has a complete collection of all series of FRN from 1963 to present, all with fancy serials.

No, I don't personally know anyone who collects them, but I'm sure they're out there.
When I browse through websites that offer $1 FRN's, they make mention of certain blocks that are rare in CU condition, usually because of where they were distributed.
I've thought about such a collection myself. First, I need a job XP lol

The total of all the notes, the way I'm collecting them, would be somewhere around 2,400. I don't think I'm going to have the set built very quickly. I'm a little over halfway through Series 2006, collecting by block letters and printing facilities |

Hi! Just want to know how far along your progress is I have a pile of ones sitting in my desk drawer.. all sorted by block.. Thinking about it..lol |

It's your collection, do what you want. Prolly the worst things that albums do is make people collect someone else's idea of a collection.
If your idea is different than other collectors', so much the better, you'll have less competition. Then when people see yours and try to put together something similar, you have demand for yours when you sell it.

I started a Block Number collection, last summer. I am pretty far along on my singles, and am doing ok on my bigger bills. When I got to the bigger bills, I started just looking for star notes, and serial numbers starting with 0's.
I figured that it was something fun to do, and I am only taking them out of circulation, so when I get bored, I can spend them and am not out anything.
i have toyed with the idea of the doing the mints, but haven't gotten into that, yet.
