Broken Die Dime And Texas Quarter Pics

I put mine in 2x2's and red whitman boxes,, I like to find coins like the dime you found,, I will never get rich from them, but they interest me ,, and make a great resource library.

I found it in my change jar during last year's sort, so I assume it just made it into circulation like a normal dime. It's real. Truth be told, I'm more of a silver coin collector, again, an amature novice, but if someone is really into error coins, they'd probably appreciate it more than I. Anyone want to trade some pre-65 silver coins for it? Email me at Email removedif so. I wouldn't even know how to accurately describe it on ebay although it might be worth a try.

Here's a couple of more pictures to try to convey what it looks like. It almost appears that there's a fold or lip along the upper edge of the broken die mark. Kind of like the metal is folded over somewhat.

Stupid question, but what is the difference between this and a "lamination" error. From the pictures, this is what it looks like from previous examples I have seen here of lamination.

Is lamination only on certain types/years of coins?

Does it only happen near edges?

Just curious what automatically makes this a die crack or break compared to a lamination error?

I did some research on that very cool dime. It is not a broken die it is a split die. A broken die of course would have one of the halves broken off.

This is a great example of a split die.
