I can certainly understand where you're coming from, but I love history, especially american history, and I think these presidents have taken certain positions that I don't agree with. But I don't want too turn this into a political issue, even if the issues are hundreds of years old. As for the Wheat cent, its a great way to start collecting as you can get large amounts of them from searching coin rolls. I personally I have bags of them from searching rolls. I do believe that some of the key dates are on the expensive side, but I think(hope) the prices are going to come down a little bit.  |

While my Lincoln Dansco is a thing of beauty now, I will never forget the pride I took putting a 1919 Lincoln I found in our cash register at our hardware store over 40 years ago. Red nail polish and all, a realy beauty and I still have it.

Hi guys, I have been reading this modern coin forum for months, and enjoy the discussions. I started out with wheat pennies in 1969. I collected until 1980, and then my mother took my coins, and spent them when I was in the service. Now 32 years later, I have started collecting pennies again. Everything is so different about collecting, but those lustrous pennies still makes me smile, and feel like that 8 year old child of 1969. The shiny penny in the coin shop calls my name, even if I have that date.

for me- I see it as a dying piece of amreican history just like anything else 60-90 years old.. collectors items! and more valuable(even though its one cent)  |

Unlike silver coins due to the price of silver Lincoln Wheats are for most part inexpensive to collect, have long collection dates from 1909 and can still be found in change for free. Go into a coin show and see a young person 16 or under and more than likely he is looking for Wheaties and not Morgans or Gold. Just my opinion edgman   |

 I'm 17 and am considering going to a coin show in my area just to buy bulk wheats. It's fun going through them, since you don't know what you're going to get. Around age 12 I got them for my birthday...the "unsearched" (sound familiar?) rolls from ebay where they include a 1909 or some other coin, but the main attractant was just going through them. Currently I have a "want" ad on craigslist, and just bought some wheats, along with a bunch of nickels, from an older collector. So, first thing I did was...to go through them. Cheap and fun. My BU set was complete from 1932 to 1980 including all of the proof issues and the motto varieties of the early years.
