That is actually a great post. I might just buy a coin or two and some books. I only have one book, and that is the reference book ;) Red Book. I know that I broke the "Buy the book before the coin" rule. Thanks everyone for your posts. I couldn't make it to my LCS today, but I am going to try again in a couple days. |

Good thread. I agree with muddler, consider picking up a nice mint state Walking Liberty half. They are amazingly beautiful coins and I don't think you'll ever regret it. All the best, Bob |

Definitely go for an ancient. With $70 you could get a couple of decent denarii or some nice bronze coins.

I would say a nice graded Morgan dollar for seventy bucks you could easily get a good MS-62, MS-63, or MS-64 depending on year and mint mark. |

$70.00 IMHO isn't very much.....If I was spending it I would be buying reference books first.

yes! Rent the book... but get the eagles. Silver American eagles are a great investment no matter where the price of silver is going. period!
*full disclosure* I own a proof, uncirculated and bullion American silver eagles*
** now adding a disclosure so when someone asks an opinion question I don't want to come across like I have an agenda. I want to be as helpful and unbiased when it comes to these sort of questions in this hobby.

I am going to my LCS tomorrow. If I get the ASE's, then which one should I get (proof, bullion, uncirculated)? I thought my budget was going to get cut because I was saving around $20 to get a chakra gemstone set (as another hobby), but I ended up having some extra $1 coins to make up the difference. So, the budget is still the same and I get another hobby that I can add to my list of three; massaging, numismatics, and chakra healing. |

How do you guys feels about the 2008 Canadian 5 dollar silver olympic coin for 35? buy?
what about some older P/D sets(61, 63, 64) for 38 each. Which would you pick?

I think the sets are a good price, but as for the Canadian coin I have a couple questions. Is it the Silver Maple Leaf that has "Vancouver 2010" on the left reverse?

I don't see why you should put that money into something to hold. Are you coin roll searching? Why not just use that money to get some more rolls? :)
