Your photo's are fuzzy. The penny could be a fake one. I can't really tell because of the fuzz.

We need better pics to tell for sure.

Is there a particular area of the coin I should photograph for you to tell if it is a fake? I will re-photograph and upload more pictures that, hopefully, are better.

looks like a fake to me looks like a very poorly done casting replica. either that or it has tons of damage the fact that the one cent, and the UNITED STATES seems to be sunken rather then raised.

I'd go along with a fake. Not sure why anyone would try to make a Penny. Possibly cost more than a real one if that is what that is. Maybe scrunk due to leaving out in the rain?

Fascinating. It never occurred to me someone might try to make a penny.

I doubt it's fake. It looks like the ones you find in a parking lot after a few wheel rolls. Or perhaps a caustic chemical spill like already mentioned.

The coin is genuine but has suffered from chemical erosion, one of the first things to go is the rim while the design detail tends to persist is a fuzzy state as the whole coin gets thinner.

Nitric Acid will produce this kind of result depending on how long the coin is left in it.

Weigh it! That should give at least some indication one way or another. Also, go me for my 250th post! You're welcome.

Skyshark124,
Congrats on crossing the 250 mark.
The coin weighs 1.85 grams. I'm not sure I understand your comment about the weight giving me an indication of something.
An indication of what exactly?
Any further comments appreciated.
Thanks for looking and for you opinion.
