No one in their right mind (except Richard Snow and Angel Dee's) buys a raw 1877 IHC.

It looks highly suspicious to me as well. The date has the look of a Chinese fake.

It appears to be a genuine IHC with an altered date. Definitely not a genuine 1877.

Looks fake. The N's are not properly worn on the reverse. Sounds fake, if the guy has something selling for $350+ and he not willing to send a better picture.

I did buy a raw 1877, and I am still fretting over it. It was from an reputable seller on ebay that has many 1000s of sales and an actual brick and mortar store.. It seems to be real, from what I can tell. But I still have my doubts. I've got photos somewhere is any one is intested to see.

However, I do agree with the post above, that a graded one would be a wiser buy for this type of coin.

Good call to be suspicious of this coin and evoke the opinions of the CCF experts.

I am not an expert in this series .... however know enough about the coin to caution you away from it ... most likely an altered date IHC.

I actually have in lower grades (FR,AG).
You better know what to look for.

Mid to higher grades, forget it. Buy certified only.

Bold N reverse--that about clinches it.

To concur with others: This one is most certainly a fake. Date is incorrect, and there's no weakness on the reverse where it needs to be.

You have a good eye to be suspect of the coin before buying! I wouldn't have even noticed that..
