On an enlargement you can see where the 8 was turned into a 3.

Thanks Guys...
As for the last comment..
3 is just worn off...
if you look at a 48 penny you can easily compare it with it...

Whatever you do, DON'T buy it! It's a fake. It's not a real 1943 LWC. It's from 1948, just altered to look like a 1943. I can tell that it's fake right off the bat.
Errers and Varietys.

SO I am planning to buy this coin from a guy and just want to get an idea if it looks real or not.

I am sorry , this whole story doesn't add up from the get go.From the answers you have provided to the members and the perfect pictures provided ( how did you take the pics without having the coin? it is clear you know what you are looking for! the weight is spot on! it is not an altered 8!** As for the last comment..

So here is the whole story...
the guy I want to buy this coin from lives in my home country in India..
He is asking for 400,000 Indian Rupees, that equals to like 6000 US Dollars..
We don't have any appraisal services or like some good coin dealers who deal in US coins..
I have seen the coin personally and I took these pictures.
The only problem is that the guy is saying to pay him the money and do whatever with the coin as he don't have any sources outside INDIA where he can sell it.
He got this coin from his grandfather who was a coin collector.
Now I want to get as sure as I can because if its a fake I lose 6 grands..
But if it is real then...............
I do have more pictures of the coin but they will tell the same story...
So this is not a fake story or something...
I am just really confused...

It looks terrible to me. Maybe spark erosion?

It may not be but it sure looks odd. Maybe cast? What's up with Lincoln's chin line? Bottom line--anyone with a coin THAT rare and valuable will have it authenticated to make the most money off of it. Only a fool or a thief wouldn't do that.

The 3 is too close to the 4 for it to be an altered 1948. Just another fake.

So this is not a fake story or something

I am not accusing you of making anything up, but all that story is missing is a Nigerian prince.
