I feel like he would make more money if he sold the sets individually. I don't think many people are looking for 20 complete Ike sets.
Rest in Peace

Since the final Ike was minted 41 years ago - when does the seller suppose 'someday' will arrive?

You might not be aware of it but the wholesale price on "common" date BU Ike rolls has gone from $40 to $60 in just the last year and a half or so!

All of these are far scarcer than people imagine because there weren't that many rolls saved and mint set coins are mostly tarnished now days and can't be sold as "BU". These coins were only $1.20 each just ten or fifteen years ago so they have been sold to the general public and often mishandled for a very long time. Even now the attrition on them is extremely high

Many of these coins are fewer in number than common date Morgan dollars and the Ikes were generally poorly made to start with. Most of the Ikes are tougher in Gem than most of the Morgans.

If these ever get widely collected there will be some huge surprises like the scarcity of decent looking chBU '76 type I's or the 1974 or even the 1971. There are also several interesting varieties that are scarce in chBU. NO Ike is common in Gem and only the '77 and '78-D even approach being common.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

That's an awfully high asking price for so few of the coins visible!

I have them all, although they're in mint and proof sets. Thanks to the Doctor I've been looking into toned ones to begin as soon as I find the right 1928 and 1934s Peace dollars to finish off those.

Thanks Burnzy!

Ikes are ugly but proud

Imo the Ike obverse design is middle of the road tier - average, nothing spectacular, but nothing abhorrent either (take SBAs for example). These detractors never stop me from collecting anything however, it often has more to do with any sentimental attachment I have with these. I don't adore Ikes but my grandpa collected them and thus I too have a respect for the series. One of my first numismatic products was a 2009 Presidential dollar proof set; it helped jump start my collection so naturally I'm inclined to collect more of those even if they're far from the most appealing specimens out there.

A lot of coins are ugly yet proud, proud to be ugly

Just thought I'd throw in my Two Cent Piece

There was no way I could come across that listing and not post it with a jbuck reference!

Ikes are most interesting to me for being both the last circulating large dollar coins and the last circulating silver dollars (whether meant to be or not).

Here's how you know it's not jbuck (from the description):

Speaking of silver Ikes, I'm getting pretty derned close to 10,000 posts. I think the contest and prizes have been figured out.
