How the coins are struck, if the dye were to have shifted during striking and this made it out. It's a possibility. Dyes are not impervious to error; we wouldnt be here if they were.
. If the material was pressed too thin or something or wasn't mixed right and it hit the die wrong . Idk . I've only seen a few like I said, but I've never had someone tell me how this could be replicated

Dyes aren't used in the minting process, and there is nothing that is "mixed wrong". I suggest you watch a video on how coins are minted.

Absolutely no way this or anything remotely close could happen during the minting process. Intentional damage, plain and simple. As Merclover suggested, study up on the minting process!

Some people on here are experts. Many of us are students and there is always something new to learn. Instead of having a hissy fit, AdamDavis would be wise to remember this one phrase. "Every Person Is My Superior In That I May Learn From Them".

Well, you should definitely spend the $50 or so and send it in to PCGS and have this rare error attributed then. Just make sure it is money you are willing to lose, because you will get the same answer from them.

@Adamdavis1988, if you would like to see how these coins are made to look like this simply look up how they make magician coins, there is no way this sort of thing can happen during the minting process.

If it can't happen on a normal strike, it was altered. And that is what you have. PSD now.

@Adamdavis1988, "dyes" are used to add a color to or change the color of something while "dies" are used to produce coins.

@adam, welcome to CCF. I hope that you stay, but become more open to others' opinions. In any case, best practice is to start a new thread rather than reanimate old ones. Folks interested in the (now correctly titled) old thread can find it here: http://goccf.com/t/292870
