Looks more like a lamination than a struck through.

That's what I was thinking at first too but it does not follow the typical, lam look that usually runs in a fairly straight line, plus, it would appear to be extra metal laying over the existing, normal sized coin, a lam would be taken out of the normal size. -makecents-

@law, how are you planning to protect those wispy bits from breaking off from the coin? Just store in a 2x2 or something else?

@Spence - I will store it in a 2X2 flip. I have some air-tights with foam insert but I think that might mess up the edge

Me I agree with struck through, and also I saw a cracked planchet if we look to the rims. Nice find, very nice.

My first thought was struck through copper foil,but then I was thinking a LAM? Coop ...Put it in a 2x2, nickel size  John1  |

Looks like a struck to me. Why not a lamination.
1. Note how it flows over the edge of the coin. A lamination would flow towards the edge, but not over the edge of the coin.
2. Also the weight is slightly over.
But over the edge like this one is definitely a struck through error.
