Quote: Look into the 1857 Braided Hair Large Cent. What makes that date a key date or otherwise special?

Quote: What makes that date a key date or otherwise special? It was the final year of issue and it led to the small cents that followed. Its mintage numbers were a little over 300,000 making it a bit more difficult to get as they were more than likely hoarded.

I'm a sucker for a proof cameo Franklyn half dollar.

1889-CC in Fine or so.
1877 Indian in F/VF.
You could also get other Lincolns like 14-D, 22 no D.

Thanks for all the input so far! Right now, my short list of coins to look for at this years show is as follows: 1857 Large Cent (MS65-66) 1877 Indian Head cent (MS61-63) 1972 Eisenhower dollar Type 2 (MS65) [Sadly, I think the 1889-CC Morgan dollar is going to be out of my price range for a grade I'd be happy with.] Any further suggestions are welcome!

Definitely nicer than the place-keeper in my 7070! I've had my eye out for one to crack out but haven't come across one to my standards.

All right, I totally forgot about this old thread that I started years ago asking people to post pictures of their key date coins, but looking through it just now provided me with a few more things to look for. Some are probably out of my price range unless I get really lucky, but here's my updated wish list: 1857 Large Cent (MS65-66) 1877 Indian Head cent (MS61-63) 1880 Shield nickel (VF20) 1889-CC Morgan dollar (VF20-XF40) 1912-S "V" Nickel (MS65) 1921 or 1921-D Walking Liberty half dollar (AU50) 1928 Peace dollar (MS65) 1972 Eisenhower dollar Type 2 (MS65) If I'm lucky, I might be able to find/afford only one or two of these in the grades specified, but that would be just fine since it would leave me more to look for next year. Thanks to all for the feedback!
