bd1094 New Member United States 10 Posts	Posted 11/13/2011 11:43 am I am looking to get some platinum, and I would prefer not to pay much of a premium. I would prefer the smaller fractional coins (1/20, 1/10) with low premiums, but I can't seem to find any kind of quantity at a reasonable price. Does anyone have any suggestions of particular coins to look for and where I may find them? Report this Post to the Staff

I don't think there's a lot of numismatic value platinum out there (Not saying there isn't!), But you really shouldnt be paying more then 5-7% over spot for it if you can manage. bd1094 New Member United States 10 Posts	Posted 11/13/2011 5:01 pm I would love to pay 5-7% over spot...but in my searching, I have found it VERY difficult to get fractional for lower than 20% over spot. In fact, I havent even seen many 1 oz platinum coins for less than 15%. ebay still seems to be the best place to find lower premiums. I know platinum is harder and more difficult to work with, but the premiums at places like APMEX are just way too high. Report this Post to the Staff
ICanSeeYou7687 Valued Member United States 362 Posts	Posted 11/13/2011 5:06 pm yeah it can be hard to find. My dealer doesn't get much platinum in, but he sells it for 5% over spot. But goldmart seems to have some good deals on platinum, most of it is for 1 ouncers, they have a 1/4 platinum eagle for a decent price but are sold out, they get new stuff in all the time though. As far as 1/10 and 1/20th you are going to be pressed especially on the internet, I would recommend calling some local dealers Report this Post to the Staff

Typically, the smaller the coin, the larger the premium on a per oz. of metal basis. For that reason, I would avoid the smallest coins and get something no smaller than 1/4 oz.
