The toning has started on this proof and does it look like the wood grain affect is on this coin. I put this in my dansco last week and the green color is getting darker is that normal to tone so quick?  Edited by daniels

Hmmm...Coop...what do you suggest BU cents get stored in? I am putting together a Lincoln Cent Album of all BU coins...I would hate for them to get ruined...Suggestions? |

I think 2X2's are best. Others say Coin flips. But I now stay clear of albums for BU cents.

So albums have plastic that surround the coin and flips have plastic that touches the coin....why wouldn't 2x2s tone them also?
Ok...lets say I decide to change from an slbum to 2X2's...would you suggest putting them in acetone to conserve them (since they were already in an album)?

I had a 1930-1981 Lincoln Cent collection in an Dansco for 30 years. Most turned RB and the steel cents were ruined. Took the remaining MS65+'s and sent them into ANACS but got mostly RB's and only one 66. My 1970s small date proof came back PR63. Now I only keep circulated coins in albums. |

The 2X2 flips that are soft have PVC in them that ruin coins. Turn them purple/green.
The plastic slides or album materials tend to affect the BU coins. I agree on circulated examples in albums could be OK.

I roll search with my 6 year old daughter and wanted to put an album together for her and wanted to do all her S mint coins in un circulated condition or proof coins but now learning this I don't know what to do. I just changed her album from a cheap one to a dansco I don't wanna disappoint her cause she picked all these out even the ones I just bought. Coop I know you always give the best honest answers what would you do?

Sell the album and put 2X2's into a 20 pocket three ring binder. At least they will stay nice looking there.
