2009 Loonie - Colour Differences...?

wert Rest in Peace 1988 Posts	Posted 11/11/2012 9:41 pm Hi Take a look at these two 2009 Loonies, the one on the left looks like a normal coloured Loonie, while the one on the right is more brassy coloured. I think there is a reference in one of the Mint Reports that Winnipeg would be used as an optional location for creating loonie blanks. Most loonie blanks in the 2000s I think were made by Jarden. Winnipeg blanks would be brass plated steel instead of bronze plated steel, since Winnipeg uses a more environmentally friendly process. http://www.mint.ca/store/mint/about...port-1400016 The "loon dance" loonie of 2008 I'd swear is made with a different plating. Many of them seem to have a different kind of toning. I've never heard of any being analysed though. Report this Post to the Staff
