An electrotype is a reproduction of a coin made of two thin surface copies, one of each side, joined together, with some filler inbetween. If we're right, there should be a seam around the edge of this coin. This was probably not meant to fool anyone, but to be an example to show others what the original gold coin looked like. In Slovenia, this might be an interesting souvenir of a coin of the legendary Kralj Matjaž.
