To verify your findings, I removed a ΒΌ" of dust from my "Standard Catalog of United States TOKENS 1700 - 1900" by Russell Rulau that's the size of the Silver Dollar
VAM book.
I don't remember the last time I opened it, and on page #768 is the following;

M.E. Woodward
(same photos of the token that's listed on
ebay)
Caution; Fantasy
Ralue #MV A413/Date-(?)/Metal-GS/Size-Oct24.5mm/VF-$4.00
(All incuse) : Within circle in lower portion: GOOD FOR /5/IN/TRADE. Above: M.E./WOODWARD. Rv: Blank reverse, on which has been ctsp in flowing Spencerian lettering: The/Victorious/Confederacy/1862. Incised, beaded rim on each side. (Phillip H. Buttermore coll.)
The token style is 1880's.
The piece is incused over another design on each side, no longer recognizable. It was purchased by collector Buttermore from a New Oxford, Pa. Antique dealer who believes he obtained it in an estate sale in Virginia.
A forger purchased a hoard of genuine Woodward tokens in 1977 and proceeded to over-strike the center with the false 1862 Confederacy message, to bilk collectors.

It sure would have been alot easier if I could have just posted a photo of the page instead of typing everything out
