My guess is a 1928 George V 1c (penny) Britannia (British)

I'll throw in and guess that the coin is a Great Britain 1928 Farthing (1/4 penny).

Can't be the Irish half penny. It has a harp on the obverse and a family of animals on the reverse. I was thinking along those lines too at first.

2.Alexander Fleming - Most renounced for his discovery of penicillin in 1928.
