They didn't mint S that year for general circulation so it apparently was a proof. It's stored so I can't tell you the exact year (90s). Report this Post to the Staff

I had always wondered if I would be able to tell a proof from business strike while CRH. When I finally came across one, BAM! It just stood out. There was no doubt about what it was. I also have a bunch of 68, 69, 70-S nickels I need to check over more closely to see if they're impaired proofs or business strikes.
