1961 D Lincoln With An Extra Part On 9

Looks like a die chip to me.
The '6' has something going on also,perhaps a little grease in the die.
Nice interesting find.

When these first came out back in 1961 (yeah, I'm old!) I found several in some BU rolls I got at a bank in Texas. Back then it was referred to as a "fish hook 9" and eventually made its way into one of the Variety and Oddity Guides. I don't think it ever picked up steam and never made it to the Cherrypickers book. I've still got a couple of them around here somewhere. I think it was found because people were roll searching like crazy for 1960 small date cents in 1961.
