CONECA has two descriptions of 1973S/S, CC's sight has no pics or listings for reference (yet?). Appreciate any opinion/feedback with this coin.

I don't think this is an RPM because the width of the doubling is wider than the S itself. That point towards MD sorry bud.

I'd like to look at this coin again...just a thought, if it were machine damage or Machine Doubling, wouldn't other devices be affected? Why just the mint mark? I've got new pictures, some different angles,...please take a look and tell me what you think: same opinion/new opinion.

Here is something on the reverse...now I'm going out on a limb, I'm not good at identifying but I've looked at other memorial listings that reference extra pillars in the Lincoln memorial...is this an extra pillar?

Thanks coins101, it just looked so tempting...guess my others are more worn to compare to. What about the S again and my new pics of it? Still think it's machine damage? I threw some new pics up to get a different view. See above. Especially the tail of the S, take a look at that.

Yeah I still think the S is machine damage. RPMs can be a little tricky from time to time.

The last image above shows a damaged punch lines that are above the lower loop of the "S". The punch was used a lot longer after even this appearance. The way you can tell it is from the punch is that many dies/denominations will show this until the punch is replaced.
