A guy I've never met before offered to sell me one of the Panda coins for 16.00 includidng the certificate. He said it is a fifty dollar coin. I don't know about this coin but I looked at it out of curiosity and walked away shaking my head. It always frustrating and sometimes almost funny when people think you're a sucker and you actually know better because the joke is on them!

was it a silver panda or a gold panda?

I don't think I have ever seen a bimetalic panda, atleast not one that actually came from China. It may have just been a token to look like the panda coin from China. I may be wrong but I have never seen one like you describe, my wife collected silver panda's but I haven't looked for any since we split up so maybe there is one and I just haven't seen it
