Better date than usual, and better story, too. I was out doing household shopping today, and happened to swing by a pawn shop I hadn't been to for a while. No loose circulated silver dollars in the case (in the past, there have at times been some there), but I asked anyway. The owner replied that he just bought one, and pulls this out of his pocket. I normally don't divulge prices I pay, but when it was offered to me at $16 (and remember, no sales tax added on to such here in Arizona), I really didn't have to give it much thought.
There's a serious rim bump adjacent to the "ER" but note that the dentils are totally eradicated at that spot. That suggests to me that the area was raised up and exposed to additional wear a long time back, so I'll accept it as part of this specimen's individual history.
