Size just looks wrong and the mintmark is way too clear.

True, but the position seems to be basically correct for Die #1 - difficult to confirm much of anything without close-ups.

It looks to me like it is legitimate, but it could seem kind of fishy. If you were considering buying it, I wouldn't suggest buying anything where legitimacy is in question, it just isn't worth it.

Best of luck!

Drew is not thinking of buying it. He's put it on here for a consensus review as to it legitimacy and if found to be an obvious fake we all report it

Have you created a welcome thread?

I have to agree with added MM. I don't like the discoloration around the "S"

With those pics, I would not touch this coin with a 10 1/2 foot pole!

Disagree. Don't see any discoloration other than a bit of dirt accumulation. MM position (enlarged) is correct for Die #1. An enlargement of the VDB would clarify, but otherwise, I think this is OK.

I'm no expert on Lincoln Cents, and I'm not ready to declare it a fake and report it. However, the discoloration around the mint mark seems like a real red flag to me.

Looks closer to Die #2 to me, mint mark level with bottom of 9s.

Whoa! Looking at those listings... I guess I will be at least one coin shy of a complete series. ;)
Rest in Peace

Interesting, but pictures aren't good enough.

Wait until you see a good one that's got provenance.
