1970 D Quarter Reverse Ghost "p"

Jennielynn New Member United States 7 Posts	Posted 07/10/2017 2:45 pm Hi all I am new to the coin adventure and would love some feedback on this coin I found. It's a 1970 d and on the reverse there's a ghost P to the top right of the eagles wing. There's also some other interesting marks within the leaves and "DOLLAR". If it is incuse (below the surface), it'll most likely be someone trying to counterstamp the coin, or a bored kid in dad's workshop. Both of which would be called ' PMD' (Post-Mint Damage), which devalues the coin 99.99% of the time, and would in this case. If it is raised, then it would be interesting, and not something I am knowledgeable enough on to really comment. Others will be along soon enough! Report this Post to the Staff

Here are a couple more close up pictures. They aren't great, but I am using my phone. hope this helps to the markings under the strike. Thanks again and I absolutely love this forum!! There is such a thing as a Dropped Letter, but being closer to the size of the mintmark, it would've been on the obverse. Sorry, but this coin looks normal to me.
