Just purchased this coin, is it genuine? It weighs exactly what a Peace dollar should, and it doesn't stick to a magnet.

Has that typical 1921 weak strike but I have no idea what's going on with that surface.

Looks to be real but heavily cleaned. Still worth quite a bit over melt though..

I have the impression of heavy environmental damage - buried for years likely - and heavily cleaned to restore the color. Honestly surprising it still weighs at the correct number.
Rest in Peace

The surfaces indicates an acidic cleaning, probably to remove environmental damage.

My immediate impression was that of saltwater damage, but on further inspection, it looks like someone was trying to imitate the sandblast (so-called "matte") proofs of 1921, probably by using a strong acid.

It appears genuine but is a low value piece with issues as noted above. I would not have paid more than $50 for it.

I paid $61 For it, but that is dividing evenly between the other 5 1921 Peace dollars I bought in a lot with this one, some being worth over $100.

That's not unreasonable, in context.
