Another ID For Greek Coin

That would be a good guess.

There are lots of things it could be - that's the challenge. The Athena part is obvious. The i.d. of the standing figure less so. So many Greek states/poleis issued bronzes that fit the bill. For example, the Thessalian League issued Athena/Demeter issues of about this same size.

I'd venture a guess (likely wrong), based on the particular profile of Athena here, as well as the depiction of the Corinthian helmet (with its sharp 90 degree turn at the back) and the shape of the base of the neck, as well as the thick coin fabric, that perhaps it could be an issue of Seleukos II Kallinikos. Nike on these issues was rendered with one leg bent slightly (contrapposto), and the front leg sometimes sort of caught in the gown's fabric - essentially amounting to three vertical engraved lines like on the OP coin in the leg area. (see first link below) Some variants of these that I've seen, on less tight and worn flans than the OP coin, were around 19mm - so they're in the ballpark.

Anyway, just speculation without much to go on.
